During the fair, Dakota City comes alive with costumed interpreters and hands-on activities from the early 1900s. Open to the public at no additional charge, the village features 22 historic buildings, including a blacksmith shop, newspaper office, schoolhouse, and millinery shop—each representing the heart of a rural community.
